“On li[n]es” is an autological conceptual poem-artwork written by Kalen Iwamoto and produced by Wen New Atelier. A close-up of a text filmed on a broken MacBook Air screen of black and coloured strips, the work is a heteroglossia of textual, visual, and digital languages conversing in coherence and contradiction. The minimal text evokes poetry, graphics, the digital world, while the hardware’s obsolescence acts on the text to layer in more critical reflections: the deceptiveness of a digital screen that resembles a textile weave, or the dissimulation endemic to our online lives.
